Borderlex Academy – The invisible rules that shape your cross-border trade

Borderlex Academy

The invisible rules that shape your cross-border trade

Date: 18 & 19 October 2022 – 14.00-17.00 CET – Location: Online

After a long hiatus, Borderlex is resuming its Academies!

This year, working with Noel Clehane, Global Head of Regulatory & Public Policy at the global professional services organisation BDO, we put together a special online programme for BDO partners and senior managers around the world. Those participating, ranged from tax to customs to general international business advisory services and were briefed on the policy context that is shaping trade today.

Cross-border transactions never happen in a legal vacuum. Businesses and governments are becoming more aware of these rules – or their absence – when the system is starting to show cracks. This at a time when supply chains have never been as integrated, and digital and robotics open new vistas for global trade.

At the 2022 Borderlex Academy attendants were able able to:

  • Get their head around the foundations of the global trading system in two half-days
  • Understand how new geopolitical realities, tech and environmental policies are shaping the way we will trade across borders in future
  • Hear directly from practitioners and seasoned observers and analysts of trade policy in Europe and beyond

This year’s sessions covered the following topics

  • The international trading system and the EU in all this – an introduction
  • The future of the WTO – implications for global business
  • Managing international supply chains – a small-to-medium sized business perspective
  • Beyond China – trade policy dynamics in the Indo-Pacific
